I picked this one this week because it’s one of my favorites.

I’ve realized I’m a little drawn to the “weird ones.”

I don’t know… maybe it’s because I feel a little different myself.

This is a variegated wax ivy.

I’ve always loved ivy plants, but I’ve never been able to keep a typical one alive in normal home conditions.

So when I found this…
it felt like I had finally found one that worked for me.

Something that could just do its thing…
and actually grow.

I think that’s what draws me into this hobby more than anything.

The way I end up relating to certain plants.

I know that probably sounds a little strange…
but I really do feel connected to them in a way.

I think that’s why I go for the weird ones so often.

The ones you don’t see in every collection.
The ones that don’t necessarily stand out at first....

This one started out really small.

It lives by a lamp in my living room,
and honestly… it doesn’t get a lot of light.

You can kind of tell it’s reaching a little,
leaning toward whatever it can find.

But when you look closer…

The leaves are so pretty.

Some come in completely white… others have this soft purple tone,
almost like they’ve been lightly sunstressed.

And it’s happy.

That’s the part that stands out the most to me.

It doesn’t need much.

I water it maybe once a month in the winter…
a little more in the summer.

Nothing complicated.

I plan to keep this one for a long time.

It’s easily one of my top favorites…
 

I think I’m learning that not every plant is meant to fit into the same conditions…
or the same expectations.

Sometimes you just have to find the one that works for you. 🌿
