How the world quietly trains you to give up your life without noticing
Have you ever sat back and thought, “If this is life, why does it feel so wrong?”
Why does everything feel icky and heavy?
Why does every day feel like you’re running on empty even when you haven’t done anything?
The truth is, you're not imagining it.
The world we’re living in is not built for human flourishing. It’s built for compliance.
The wildest part about it is that most people never even notice.
But you do, something in you is waking up.
The system isn’t broken. It was never meant to set you free.
People love to say, “The system is failing us.”
No.
It’s doing exactly what it was designed to do.
Keep people exhausted.
Keep people overwhelmed.
Keep people distracted.
Keep people numb enough to accept a life that drains them.
If the system was meant to empower you, would you feel this tired all the time?
Would you feel disconnected, restless, stuck and unfulfilled?
Of course not.
The heaviness isn’t accidental.
It’s by design.
From childhood, we’re trained to obey, not think.
It starts before we even know what’s happening.
Sit still.
Raise your hand.
Follow the rules.
Don’t question authority.
Don’t speak out of turn.
Get the right answer.
Color inside the lines.
We were taught how to pass tests, not how to trust our intuition.
We were taught how to perform, not how to think for ourselves.
We were taught how to fit in, not how to seek truth.
By the time we become adults, obedience feels normal.
Silencing ourselves feels normal.
Ignoring our spirit feels normal.
But here’s the thing.
God didn’t create us for conformity.
He created us for discernment.
And when your discernment starts waking up, nothing feels the same anymore.
The 40 hour workweek was never created for your wellbeing.
Let’s talk about the thing everyone feels but nobody questions.
Work.
The job.
The schedule.
The routine that slowly drains you year after year.
The 40 hour workweek wasn’t created for joy, purpose or calling.
It was created during the industrial age so factories could get more output from workers.
That’s it.
It was never meant to nurture your spirit.
So why do we treat it like it’s sacred?
Why do we build our entire lives around a schedule that leaves us exhausted and spiritually numb?
Because we were trained to.
We normalize burnout because everyone around us is going through it too.
But here’s the truth you’ve been feeling in your bones.
A system that steals your time will eventually steal your spirit.
Burnout isn’t your fault. It’s the point.
You’re not burnt out because you’re weak.
You’re burnt out because you’ve been living in a world that drains people on purpose.
When people are tired, they don’t dream.
They don’t question.
They don’t push back.
They just survive.
A burned-out person doesn’t rebel. They comply.
This is why the exhaustion feels deeper than physical tiredness.
It’s emotional.
It’s spiritual.
It’s a soul-level fatigue that sleep cannot fix.
Because the real issue isn’t your energy.
It’s the weight of the world pressing down on it.
The subtle distractions that keep you from waking up.
Have you noticed how loud everything is?
Chaotic and overstimulating.
Every second, something is fighting for your attention.
News.
Drama.
Notifications.
Scrolling.
Chaos.
Noise is one of the biggest tools the world uses to keep people asleep.
If you’re constantly overstimulated, you won’t notice the cage you’re in.
If you’re constantly distracted, you won’t hear God speaking.
If your mind is cluttered, your spirit cannot breathe.
Distraction is one of the enemy’s favorite weapons.
And people fall for it every day.
But you’re starting to see through it.
If you’re feeling the cracks, that means you’re waking up.
That restlessness you feel.
That irritation.
That voice saying “this can’t be all there is.”
That is not depression or weakness.
That is awareness.
You’re beginning to see the patterns.
You’re noticing the things you used to ignore.
You’re paying attention to the stuff everyone else avoids.
Awakening doesn’t feel peaceful at first.
It feels like being shaken.
Like someone flipped on a light in a room you’ve slept in for years.
You were never meant to fit into a world you were called to rise above.
That’s why you feel off.
Your spirit is rejecting what your habits tolerated.
You don’t escape the system overnight. Awareness is the first step.
You don’t need to quit your job or uproot your whole life today.
Escaping the system doesn’t happen in one big leap.
It starts with awareness.
Once you see the truth, you can’t unsee it.
Once you feel the shift, you can’t go back to sleep.
Awakening begins with noticing.
Then questioning.
Then choosing differently.
And that’s exactly where you are.
Part 3 will go even deeper into why your mind feels overloaded, anxious and overstimulated.
There’s a reason you feel mentally drained, and it’s not what you think.
We’ll talk about that next.
